Practical Way To Measure Happiness At Work

Measuring Happiness In The WorkplaceCreating and maintaining a productive team is one of the most pressing challenges faced by managers in small and large companies alike. Now listen to how the folk over at Nixon MacInnes approaches this issue:

“The key to building a great team is to create a wonderful place to work that will attract and keep the best people.”

Happiness at work leads to productivity. As happiness increases, productivity will too!

What Nixon MacInnes did was to put in place a barometer of happiness. As a social media agency with software developers on their team, one would expect a high tech solution, but, wait for it… what they use is two buckets and some tennis balls!

It works like this: At the end of each day each team member drops a tennis ball into either the Happy or Unhappy bucket. The next day they count the balls and by the end of the week they compile their own Happiness Index.

Now that’s one way of raising the awareness on happiness at work!
